Traffic Capabilities
Examining the link between land use, traffic forecasting and operational traffic analysis is necessary in the planning process to understand the impact of a project on the transportation system. Traffic analysis is critical to show that future traffic patterns work in concert with the adjacent road networks in terms of the overall master plan, long range traffic growth, and traffic distribution. The goal is to identify and prioritize projects that enhance mobility and safety on a region-wide basis.
Transit plays a vital roll in the movement of people while reducing the number of vehicles on congested roadways. Traffic modeling is a key technique in determining optimal transit center bus operations based on arrival schedules, dwell times, and passenger loading. The goal is to identify adequate bay platform layouts for pulse peaks, provide for appropriate pedestrian platform sizing, and minimize bus queues along the platform during peak periods.
