Traffic Counting Program

A total of 1,200 short volume counts (by Automatic Traffic Recorders) and 90 vehicle classification counts were required over a three-year period (approximately 400 short counts and 30 vehicle classification counts per year). The tasks included conducting traffic counts at specified locations; adhering to NYSDOT Traffic Monitoring Procedures; and providing all collected information to the GBNRTC in the correct format for processing. We deployed Diamond Unicorn machine counters that identified locations, checked counters and hoses to ensure proper operation, downloaded and reduced machine count data into a summary format, and recounted areas where data appeared to be invalid.
