Red Creek Cold Storage Building, Structural Analysis

The owner of this cold storage warehouse was interested in determining the maximum storage capacity on the framing and deck to satisfy lease requirements of a new tenant. The floor was approximately 10,400 square feet. The current use was cold storage of apples, which were 4 ft. x 4 ft. bins stacked 3 to 6 bins high.
The proposed use was for cheese storage, with the goal of a minimum 4,200,000 lbs of capacity to a desired 5,000,000 lb. capacity. Fisher Associates performed an inspection of the framing and flooring system and performed a structural framing analysis with the required crate sizes and varying stack heights. We also recommended areas which, if strengthened as proposed, could greatly increase the capacity of selected regions to meet the upper capacity needs of the client.
