Got Wind, Need Power?
If so, you need a consultant experienced with the design of wind energy projects in communities throughout New York. Fisher Associates has been involved in the civil and transportation design of 10 wind farms over the last two years. These incorporated:
- 500 turbines
- 100 miles of access roads
- 350 miles of public roads
- 850 culverts and bridges
We are well aware of the unique permit and design issues associated with the construction of wind farms. Our reputation with the involved regulatory agencies (the U.S. Corps of Engineers, transportation and environmental reviewing agencies) are excellent and a great asset in obtaining permit approvals.
Our services include:
- Analyzing delivery routes over public and private access roads, including crane crawl requirements.
- Inventory of transportation route deficiencies.
- Road and highway improvements and permits for width and turning radii needed for delivery vehicles, clear zone requirements, and cover over utilities susceptible to damage.
- Design of geometric improvements on public and private access roads, including turnarounds.
- Modeling of transport vehicles and crest and sag curves (to prevent bottom-out).
- Design of crane pads and turbine assembly areas.
- Bridge and culvert load ratings and design of upgrades needed to carry loads. Non- destructive testing of structures.
- Wetland delineation and permitting for jurisdictional wetlands (including those impacted by bridge and culvert improvements).
- Utility extensions including overhead power line and UFPO coordination.
- Topographic, ALTA (for boundary), and easement survey and mapping.
- Geotechnical assessments, subsurface explorations, and foundation design.
- NEPA, SEQRA, SPDES and environmental studies.
- Post Construction Roadway Condition Assessments.
