Civil Engineer \ Civil Technician

Fisher Associates has an immediate opening for a civil engineer with 3-5 years of experience. The position will provide a wide range of experience opportunities with work assignments related to all aspects of civil site design including site development, environmental issues, infrastructure assessment and design, grading and drainage systems, SWPPP preparation.

Applicants should be self-motivated, enthusiastic and looking for a challenge.

Qualified candidates must possess:

Oil & Gas Surveyors

Fisher Associates has multiple openings for Oil & Gas Surveyors / Pipeline Routers to support our growing Energy practice. Candidates must be motivated, self-starters able to work independently on Oil & Gas projects throughout PA, WV, OH, and NY. Experience with both mapping grade and survey grade survey equipment is required.

These positions will require extended periods of travel and attention to detail is a must. Sample field documentation will be requested.

Crew Chief positions require 5+ years of Oil & Gas experience and Crew Member positions require 2+ years experience. Microstation, AutoCAD, Carlson, and/or GIS (ESRI) experience a plus.

Party Chief (Construction Survey)

Fisher Associates has an immediate opening for an experienced Party Chief to support our construction survey practice. Candidates must be motivated and able to work independently supporting our construction clients with survey layout tasks. Documented experience with the traditional and GPS survey equipment for layout duties is a must and the ability to assist Contractors with their machine control systems is a plus.

Project Engineer / Inspector

Open staffing request for a Project Engineer/Inspector for building projects, generally for schools and universities. Duties cover inspection and construction administration responsibilities and include:

  • Construction inspection for compliance with bid documents
  • Reviewing payment applications, material certifications, and change orders
  • Reviewing plans and specifications, reviewing progress of work and preparing daily reports
  • Assisting at meetings, reviewing schedules and coordinating subcontractors
  • Assisting with final inspections, certificate of occupancy, punch list inspections

Environmental Monitor – Buffalo, NY

Fisher Associates is seeking an individual with 1-3 years of environmental field compliance and construction oversight experience, with a focus on monitoring environmental permit conditions and erosion and sediment controls in a construction setting.  Focused experience with energy-related, linear and non-linear projects, particularly with oil and gas and/or electric transmission projects, a plus.

The candidate must have demonstrated experience interacting with construction contractors, clients and regulatory agencies; inspecting and documenting field conditions and identifying items requiring correction; report preparation; and supervision and oversight of field activities. Good interpersonal communication skills a must.  A current OSHA 10 hour course is required or the ability to obtain this training.  OSHA 40 hour course is a plus. 

Candidates should be willing to travel and participate on projects of varying durations located throughout New York and Pennsylvania.  The candidate must have the ability to work long hours in various field conditions.

A minimum of an Associate’s degree in an applicable field such as environmental science/engineering, biology/wetlands science, construction management or related field, is required.

Salary is commensurate with experience level.

Structural Project Manager - Buffalo, NY

Full time position in our Buffalo Office for a licensed bridge project manager with 10 – 15 years of transportation structures related experience.  The position requires understanding all aspects of preparing a construction bid package for NYSDOT and LAFA transportation projects; providing direction and oversight of internal design staff;and coordination/communication with clients, and regulatory approving agencies.  Strong marketing skills required.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • B. S.  (Master’s preferred) in Civil Engineering and 10 – 15 years of structural design and project management experience
  • New York State Professional Engineering License or ability to obtain NYS license
  • Integrity, people skills, team spirit and commitment to providing high quality deliverables
  • Project management experience, including project profit and loss management and personnel management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Wetland Scientist - Buffalo, NY

Fisher Associates is seeking an individual with 5+ years of experience to fill a mid- to senior-level position in Buffalo, NY. Candidate will be expected to lead field surveys needed to support permitting efforts for a variety of public and private clients and must demonstrate recent experience performing delineations and preparing permit applications in accordance with USACE, NYSDEC, and PADEP guidelines. Preference will be given to candidates with the experience in the energy and utilities sector (e.g., gas, electric, telecommunications).  Experience conducting wildlife and habitat surveys is desired.   Candidate should demonstrate strong problem-solving and analytical skills, strong technical writing/editing abilities, good interpersonal communication and oral presentation skills, exceptional attention to detail, excellent planning and organization skills, commitment to quality in both work processes and products, and willingness to assume new roles.  Frequent field work and some overnight travel in NY and PA required. Salary commensurate with experience level.

Landscape Architect - Rochester, NY

Landscape Designer / Landscape Architect needed for land planning and site design of public and private projects.  The position requires strong teaming skills and client-focused services.

Applicants shall have demonstrated initiative characteristics and possess creative design and problem solving capabilities.  Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture and 2-5 years of professional experience.
